Today (June 27) marks the second World Microbiome Day, founded by APC Microbiome Ireland., aimed at celebrating all thing’s microbe and driving awareness to the diverse worlds of the microbiome.
This year’s theme is ‘Antibiotic Resistance’, highlighting the vital role antibiotics plays in combatting against harmful bacterial infections that also affect the beneficial bacteria of the human, animal and plant microbiome. As well as the overuse and misuse of antibiotics leading to bacteria becoming resistant to the antibiotics making them ineffective.
At The Secret Life of Skin we are aware of the critical role that the microbiome plays in human, animal and environmental health and disease.
